Our Mission:
Empower.
We want to help foster a society in which equitability of outcomes between men and women is the norm, not a goal.
We want to help foster a society in which equitability of outcomes between men and women is the norm, not a goal.
Our Partners have been key in helping us expand our reach across people and geographies! We have teamed up with other non-profits, publishing companies, and even local bookstores to help spread and deliver our message.
YASA has been able to generate awareness through a few main avenues. Our videos featuring youth advocates have generated over 80,000 views on youtube and other sources. We have partnered with Breakthrough U.S., a larger non-profit with a much wider reach to enact change both in the United States and India. The YASA platform has also continued to be a forum for interaction and discussion on all topics relating to gender equality and violence.
Through the Sale of Govind Ramakrishnan’s, Poetry Book, YASA has been able to raise large sums of money to be donated to our driving cause.
Since its inception, YASA has continued to be used as a platform to created widespread awareness around issues relating to gender violence and equality.
Through our Social Media Campaign, we have been able to reach over 80,000 individuals through our videos.
Youth Against Sexual Assault aims to actively work with youth to change stereotypical attitudes that prevail in our society about gender equality and gender violence.
Using the YASA platform, we will disseminate information to create awareness on the importance of mutual respect for both sexes.
Aside from our grassroots and social media movement, we will Communicate through visual art and theater using music, dance, and plays to depict realistic scenarios and the trajectory of sexual assault and how these atrocities can be prevented.
We will strive to teach positive and acceptable social modes of behavior through peer group learning sessions. YASA will also help in the formation of teenager volunteer groups who will advocate the prevention of sexual assault to their peers.
Finally, we hope to teach girls to recognize and avoid risky situations and to equip them with simple techniques of self-defense.
Govind Ramakrishnan, Founder
We are actively looking for volunteers and grassroots advocates to help us in our modest goals of slow, but incremental societal change. Gender inequality and violence cannot be solved in the span of a year, a generation, or even two generations, but through constant support for our allies, mindfulness, and awareness, we can slowly make a dent.
Please reach out to us and the team with any feedback or comments about YASA, our goals, and how to improve what we are doing.
